Revell is not available in Canada, but I ordered them from The UK's leading online Model shop - TheModeller.com Good prices if you order enough even with shipping it still is way creaper than the hobby shops here

If you are ordering from the UK and if you are airbrushing then I recommend White Ensign Models Colourcoat range.

https://www.whiteensignmodels.com/page/Colourcoats+Paint/16/

I use them alongside my good old Humbrol enamels (some are as old as "Crimea River's" :) )

I tried acrylic paints for a few years but have reverted almost exclusively to enamels. You know....old dog,new tricks etc.

Cheers

Steve

Been using Tamiya colours lately and love the way they behave and look but hate that they all have to be mixed. But for now I'll stop confusing you Gary.

If you need sky, mix Tamiya Grey Green IJN with a grey of your choice, my Zero almost came out sky even when I was adding a bit of green to the color itself :D

I don't think it is a good idea to buy a such number of colours in advance. These might be replaced by better ones. So let's purchase what we need for a current build only. Oh.. it might be for two ones or three ultimately. But don't exaggerate.

Well I replaced drinking with modelling,so she is happy about that.As for ordering every Hu and Revell colour made, not so much, but she has to admit I don't act like an idiot anymore

You'll eventually find, after a little practice, that many, many colours can easily be mixed from just a few basic colours. For example 'Brick Red' and 'Flesh'.
You would normally already have a stock of basic colours such as black, white, red, yellow, and probably the most frequently used camouflage colours, such as Dark Green and Dark Earth. So, using these, 'Brick Red' can be mixed as required, using red, a touch of black, and Dark Earth, adjusting as needed to obtain the desired shade.
Same for 'Flesh', using white, yellow, Dark Earth and red, again adjusting the proportions to obtain the tone required for the 'Flesh' - pale skin, dark skin, sun-tanned skin, 'I've drank too much and going to puke' skin - whatever!!
Such rarely used colours as 'Chocolate' again can easily be mixed, using a brown, dark earth again being a 'standard' starting point, mixed with black and red, again adjusting proportions as required.
It really is very simple, and always puzzles me why some modellers have stock of rarely used, 'exotic' colours which can be easily mixed, as needed, from existing 'basic' colours.
Of course, this is for colours only used in relatively small quantities - specific camouflage colour requirements may be different, although again, some can easily be mixed.

I agree with Terry. Having the basic set of colours it is possible to obtain many others. Just a matter of training.

It's just the tints that cannot be made with the primary colors, red, blue, yellow.
Just Google "color wheel". Took a color class once. Made square charts.
Do a chart 8 little squares by 8 little squares, about 1/2" x 1/2" squares.
Upper left red. Upper right yellow. Lower left blue.
From the top left corner toward the yellow, add a drop of yellow and fill the square, another drop another square till you get pure yellow.
From the top left corner down toward the blue, add a drop of blue, repeating till you have pure blue.
Then mix from the edges toward the diagonal.
Amazing the colors. Then add black, or white to each.

Sorry, I'll go now.

I learned a trick from a portrait painter, when mixing a "flesh' color, add just the tiniest bit of green. I know, it sounds strange, but it somehow gives that spark of life to your figures.

Thanks everyone for your wisdom.Well lets get at it. As you can see the main engine parts were glued together and they do no fit at all,so I will try to make the best of a bad situation.I will use my new needle files(thanks Wurger) to try and manipulate what I can to correct this problem and if I have to fill in the open areas. As I work through this build I will be asking for your invaluble advice. Ihope you don't mind.

Of course we don't. Looking quite good. But some of sanding rather than using of needle files seems to be better to correct what you need to. Could you post a picture or two with a general view of the engine replic in?

Also please resize your pictures down to the 800 pixels in the width before uploading here. Now it is of more than 2800 pixels and might cause a problem with screen scrolling and displaying of the page by a net browser.

Is this better I hope. As you can see the problems with alinement
