Got more done this afternoon. Fuselage has been joined together and the top has been painted. I will wait overnight to make sure it is good and dry before I Future coat it and then tackle the bottom side. The wings, tail and turrets are just set into place for the photos. Lots of tape still covering windows and openings.

Thanks fellas. Progress continues as the weather today is work bench friendly. The top side has been sprayed with Future and it has dried so it is safe to turn this big girl over and get to work on her bottom.

Lots of gaps around the bomb bay so putty to the rescue. Getting close to finishing this patch job but will need it again when the ball turret assembly is put into place as a dry fit of it shows lots of gapping.

De-icing boots have been painted and the landing gear has been attached. Wing bottoms are painted and starred and barred.

Front end glass has been masked off in anticipation of painting once a couple more sub assemblies are attached and in place.

Thats it for today as dinner guests have started to arrive and Mother Superior advises that it is anti-social to remain squirrelled away in the basement.

Cheers,

Jeff

Looking good, and swift progress Jeff. Got me wanting to get mine done - when I have enough display space cleared from the mess that passes for my house !

I just found this thread myself. Beautiful work Jeff. And prayers for that hand to heal well.

Thank you sir for your kind words on both the model and the hand. The hand issue was dealt with last November but recently I have been having trouble with it again. I have been to my Dr. and have an appointment with the same specialist who helped out last year with the cortisone shot. Not surprised the problem has returned and hopefully another cortisone shot will take care of it for good as surgery is the next treatment option. Will know more after August 18th appointment.

Terry. Things are progressing quickly. Lots of the sub assemblies were completed last year when I began this project and when I put this baby to rest she was at the point where lots of major components were to go together. Add that to the fact the weather here has been trash for the past two days and it adds up to lots of progress. Most time consuming has been masking off the turrets....holy crap!

Cheers to all,

Jeff

This one is going back into hibernation for a bit while I get started on my next GB 26 jet. I want to make sure I have enough time. I know GB 26 does not end till 06Sept but I will be away from home for a couple of weeks off and on over the next couple of months.

Stay tuned, she will re-emerge.....

Jeff

You've been a very good job so far Jeff, I have enjoyed and learned from the process !! :thumbright:

Have a great vacation and be pleasant moments to distract you.

I will be pending to the resurgence of her.
Take care and see you soon.

Look for this one to re-emerge shortly after I finish my 110 for GB28. The only other GB28 candidate I have in the stash is the Trumpeter 1:48 Welly Mk.1 which will be fun but it was just last summer I did the Mk. III Welly.

Biggest problem is I am quickly running out of room for my builds>

Cheers,

jeff

Well, she is almost done. Attached the wings and tailplane today as well as a few smaller pieces. All that is left is to put the top turret together and install same and I must still paint the props as they are just set on the model for the pictures.

Sorry about the reflections running across the top of the port wing in the first picture. They are from a desk lamp that I use.

Cheers.

Nice one Jeff, and it sure shows the size of the beat in 48th scale !
That's the Bomb Group I was originally going to model, but I've now changed all the details to Bungay based 'Naughty Nan' of the 446th BG.
I'd really like to start work on it (along with the Lancaster in 48th scale), but I haven't got room to display the finished model ! Hopefully, if I can get a place in the bungalows up the road, I can eventually get it done !
