I can never understand why this sport deems it necessary to settle important games with a penalty shootout.

B-O-R-I-N-G!!!!!

Let them play till someone puts the ball in the net!!!!!

As i said, i am not much into watching football on tv, but i was just told that as late as in the 1980s the number of national teams admitted into the world cup was 16 (sixsteen)!, then that during the 1990s the number went up to 24, reaching 32 today...twice the original number.

I was told that at least some 12 national teams who attended the 2006 world cup were just "tourists". (USA, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Costa Rica, Serbia, Trinidad Tobago to name a few).

....

I think think 32 teams is great for now. Maybe expand it in the future.

More teams = more fans = more fun = more money.

Again? Last time was the 1998 final, as Brazil won in 2002. So, there we have it ...

Germany vs. Italy.
France vs. Portugal.

No one predicted this, and Germany are still favourites to win the cup.

It's hardly need for block capitals, as Brazil won the last World Cup. I would be more quick to say Portugal whooped England again on penalties. But then, England suck at penalties and everyone beats them at 'em.

Brasil is gonna win it the sixth time.

HAHAHAHAHAH

France 1 Brazil 0

I told you so! I told you they would not win!Anyone watching the World Cup knew they were not going to make it the way they were playing. Most of the team has gotten fat and happy and underestimate there opponents because they think they are gods! They suck!

Yep, sounds like it was a game that they were never really in (with their only real chances coming in second half stopage time). Zidane pretty much controlled it all. I believe it will be a Germany France final (what a game that will be).

Okay here are the pics that my friend took when we went to watch the Germany and Argentina game. There are some of just random fans, some of my friends, some of myself and my wife. He actually took 130 pictures so I only posted some of them.

I think the pictures are really good. He captures the faces very well. He has a really good camara and is sort of a hobby photographer.

Oh and by the way, sorry England.

I say J bein' an idiot in there. But nice, well done to Germany ... they'll raise the cup. Lovely atmosphere ... I would have loved to partied there.

Jay is allways an idiot though. He is a good guy though as well and a good friend.

The party is not over and will not end till after Germany raises the cup!

Here are my predictions:

Germany 2 Italy 1
Portugal 1 France 0

Germany 3 Portugal 2

I meant no offence by calling Jay an idiot, on the contrary, I think he's awesome. An absolute nutcase ...!

I think Germany will score more against Italy, to be honest. The Italian defence has been strong so far, but they haven't faced the tough teams. And I think France will beat Portugal, but we shall see.

I was told that at least some 12 national teams who attended the 2006 world cup were just "tourists". (USA, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Costa Rica, Serbia, Trinidad Tobago to name a few).

And by the way, group "A", where Germany got positioned was a joke: Costa Rica, Poland and Ecuador; a freshly baked donut and glass of milk for the host team.

No 32 teams is actually really good. It brings out real excitement and keeps it going.

In the 1980s there were more than 16 teams. In 1982 they used 24 teams for the first time and then in 1998 they bumped it up to 32. I think it is the best with 32, it works out great that way and really gets the competition going.

Well the 12 teams that you are calling tourists cant be tourists. They qualified for the World Cup in the qualification rounds, which means they defeated eneogh teams to get to Germany. They earned there right to be there.

As for the group A that they were "placed" in is becaus that is how they were drawn. They are placed into groups based off a lottery draw. The countries are drawn out of a machine that looks like a lottery machine. I watched it live on TV. Pretty interesting. The host of the nation is allways the first team placed into "Group A" and the rest are drawn from the clear plastic ball.

Anyhow here are the teams that played in each World Cup:

1930
13 teams

Winner: Uraguay

1934
16 teams

Winner: Italy

1938
15 teams

Winner: Italy

1950
16 teams

Winner: Uruguay

1954
16 teams

Winner: Germany

1958
16 teams

Winner: Brazil

1962
16 teams

Winner Brazil

1966
16 teams

Winner: England

1970
16 teams

Winner: Brazil

1974
16 Teams

Winner: Germany

1978
16 teams

Winner: Argentina

1982
24 teams

Winner: Italy

1986
24 teams

Winner: Argentina

1990
24 teams

Winner: Germany

1994
24 teams

Winner: Brazil

1998
32 teams

Winner: France

2002
32 teams

Winner: Brazil

No no there was never any offense taken.

Just a question though, did you or Sarah leave a jacket in Germany, when you came over? I have a jacket in the back of my Jeep and I dont know who belongs to.

Yeah, that's mine. Have you seen all the change in the pocket? I'll get it when I go back sometime. I noticed I'd left it when I wanted some food back in Manchester, and realised I had no change 'cos it was in my coat ! It was so easy to do because I was relaxed, and didn't feel like I was on holiday - just like I was with a load of friends.
