Great photos, Shinpachi...thanks as always for sharing them!

Speaking of birds, I was fortunate enough today to have a Crane fly overhead as I was testing my new lens! I know they are a sign of good luck and good fortune so if you don't mind, I'd like to share it with you.

Happy New Year, my friend!

A nice shot with the appropriate exposure, GG!
Thank you very much.

Yes, crane is a good omen as well as turtule from ancient times.
This new year will be the most prosperous one for you.

Crane and turtle are also the symbol for long life:)

.....Kodak announced that they have made their last roll of Kodachrome film

That is a sad news.
I wish the other kodak films can survive for some more time till the improved digital film that I want to have most may come up again.

I still love the old cameras.

This is an image by a cheap compact digital camera but looks very close to my actual impression I had today.
Spring is coming in the temple!

Thanks vB!

It was a free market day of the temple today.
Interesting to me, the market keeps the atmosphere of the late 1940s when there were many free markets on the street after the war.

Shinpachi, hello, it has been a while since you have updated. In your fist digital pic we call those "Weeping Willow" and there is a corkscrew variety also. I am somewhat surprised that the market would be around the temple. Is this a common practice?

Hello, Mike and Gnomey!
I don't know well about other temples/shrines but this is a common practice in my old temple. I come across it very often.

I'd sure like to visit a marketplace like that, you must be able to find all sorts of good things!

I like that picture you took with the "cheap" digital camera, it has a real soft look to the scene...very nice!
