As you can see I have painted these. Engine 91 Revell met steel, inside cowl RLm 02,pushrods and fan Revell302 silk matt black and the others Hu140 matt gull gray. I will now attempt to dry brush the cylinder heads Hu27003 polished steel for effect. The exhaust was painted Hu113 matt rust(I have no Model Master1424 burnt iron)Anything closer that you guys know of,or will this do?

Use dark brown as a base and let it dry, then dilute a light brown and apply. some people even use black as the base, it can give it a bit of rust, pm me if you need a better explanation :) but that's usually how I do mine.

Here's today's progress. I left the exhaust alone, looks ok. and my pilot looks a bit better. Thank AF for the tip. So far I am pretty happy with the results. Still plenty of time for the wings to fly off

The ring in the last picture and the fan is supposed to be assembled next, but I think I should probably do this near the end of the build because of paint and decal work still to come. Do you think I am right. It just seems to make sense.

Aye do it later :) once its been painted, unless it is an integral part of the cowl :D

My reason is this way I won't have to tape it off when I do the overall paint ,and the decals would be easier to lay down.Meaning that when I put the cowl ring on the decals would mate up perfect

Aye that works, even if you decide to airbrush the red on later, its the better option :)

Woody,so far it has been a really nice fitting kit.but I am not at the big stuff yet. Rogi, the one I am doing has the white and red decals for the nose. If I am not mistaken Graf's bird with the yellow cowl is a a-8 mine is a a-5 standerd 74,75 and 76 scheme

Well, this is it for my 2nd build day. I must say that there have not been any real fit issues, and the ones I did encounter where fixed with no trouble. So far I highly recommend this kit. Lets just see what the wings fit like. Usually by now I have accidentally either broken something or got glue in the wrong place. I guess I am just getting better,or this kit just puts itself together. Still lots of time to crash and burn

Gary, Graf used 2 similarly marked 190's an A-4 (W.Nr.634) with yellow nose and the A-5 (W.Nr.2594) initially with only the lower cowl in yellow and then later the upper section was painted with the Yellow and modified with large intakes fitted to either side of the cowl.

I can provide some extra detail changes for your A-5, as I used the same kit to do my A-5 of Josef Wurmheller from JG2 and backdated the kit to more accurately reflect the A-5 version.

Ok here are the couple of pages I set up for the various changes to the kit when I entered it in local comps in 2007, hope it helps.
