You got that right! Decided to attack the clear part:

Polished with toothpaste and dipped in Future. The piece is actually loose in this pic.

The framing will now need to be reinstated as the detail was lost in the fix but that's better than what it looked like before.

Nice fix on the canopy, Andy. I couple coats of primer before you paint could probably build up the lost frame detail.

Thanks Chris. Yes, I'll just mask and build up with paint but the first coat will need to be RLM 66.

So it was on with the yellow , then mask, then 66 on the canopy frames, then 76. And that's how she sits now on this Saturday night.
