Many thanks to you all, got the wings and tail on after installing the cockpit, also glued the exhausts into the engine panels and glued them in th nose.
So far the fit of the parts has been very good, pics when work allows !
 
as promised pics of my progress.
i'm hoping to do a bit of filling the gaps here and there on my next day off

Some of those joints look like they will be a pain to fill Karl. I have a P-40K that I'm thinking of starting and I think it has the same separate panels over the engine. I believe its an AMT though.
 
yeah the kit has Ertel stamped on the sprues so i guess its a re-box i also think the harsh light from my desk lamp makes them stand out a bit, might see what the look like with a coat of paint as i want to try and keep the detail !!!
 
Wise move Karl, you may only need a little filler her and there and remember the nail varnish remover and 'Q' tip trick to wipe of excess filler, helps to keep detail crisp.
