I had never seen Higgins Lapierre before the mid season deal that brought them here, so I don't know how they played in Montreal.
To be fair, since they've been here they've been solid second third line players, without much in the way of goon show antics. (that I can recall)

Higgins has never really been a goon or a dirty player. Lapierre has always been obnoxious. They have been pretty solid since they got to Vancouver. As far as goon show antics, Lapierre never does anything outright dirty in relation to hits, but it's the way he acts, like the feigning a spear when in reality it was a tap on the shoulder, and antagonizing the other team. Basically the stuff he does to get under the other team's skin. Yeah, it's effective, but unless you're a fan of his or his team, it's hard to like him!

Lapierre was also a last minute fill in when Malhotra took a puck in the eye. (yikes!)
I think he did pretty well in the third line.

It's effective to a point. It's a disadvantage when the refs stop calling real penalties against the guy, figuring he was just embelishing again.

Yep, thats seems to be what happened

Holy crap, Philly just traded Richards to LA for Schenn, Simmonds and a pick, and Carter to Columbus for Voracek and a couple picks. Unbelievable!

I think that the sweep to Boston (and rumours of discord in the dressing room) meant the GM decided to shake things up.

I believe Vancouver got caught crying wolf to often with the flopping and floundering , I realize as a Van fan you here more posturing by the pro Van media the rest of the North American media really disliked the way Vancouver played . Head hunter Torres is a prime example, Lapierre has always played that way I can recall him playing a couple of yrs ago against Boston and he's a goof thats why the Habs dumped him. I thought the refs were fairly good and called a fair game

and now they have some room under the cap to go after a good goalie. Plus a 1st and 2nd round pick they didn't have before. Something for now and to build the future on.
