Have to wonder why almost everybody makes the wheel wells so shallow??? AFAIK, of all the modern 'new tool' kits, only the Tamiya 1:48 Zero's have correct depth wells.
All of the older mouldings I've had or seen took this detail into account. Always have to cut them out and deeper them with the new mouldings.

your right about that Evan, they are rather crude, but I decided early on I wasnt going to do a major cutout and replacement job on this one, as I said in an earlier post this is more about the visual appearance showing the proper colours of the early model Zero.....maybe the next one will have proper wells.....still have 2 more..

Understand completely Wayne, and not knocking your effort, as you know. (and 2 more of these??!!! )

Personally the prospective well replacement was the reason you didn't see the A6M2 you sent me in the current GB (got 2 zeros and an Me 262 from Wayne earlier this year )
Have previously scratchbuilt new wells in an Academy 1:72 A6M5 already, and wasn't in a rush to repeat that process!

Bill I don't actually know what the tube is for, it is on the underside of the tank, so it must be a vent or overflow, I can't read japanese, must ask Shinpachi for that answer...

Anyway have now mixed my primary paints and applied the 'Grey' to the fabric surfaces, often referred to as J-3 Hai-iro!

The end of a brush dipped in each jar, in turn, counting out the measured drops and eyeballing them to ensure consistency in droplets...very high tech!

have masked off the fabric surfaces and superglued brass rod into the gun ports to create the flush wing cannon ports...file these back tomorrow!
