Thanks Kevin. I'm back up and about, and have made some progress. The model has been given a couple of coats of clear matt, and some more paint erosion and chipping added, as well as exhaust and gun smoke staining.
The 'Quickboost' resin 'porcupine' exhausts have been painted and fitted, with scratch-built support brackets, and the exhaust collector rings painted in a copper/bronze finish, which has yet to be polished and clear coated. The landing gear and wheels are painted, assembled and fitted, although the support struts and retraction jacks have yet to be painted.
All the masking has been removed from the cockpit, entrance hatches and landing lamps, and after some retouching the model will be ready for some detail painting, and the addition of the remaining major parts, as well as the scratch-built hatch covers, and some small antennas etc.
PIC 1 shows the flame damper 'porcupine' exhausts.
PIC 2. The starboard engine, exhaust collector ring and exhaust.
PIC 3. The landing gear so far, with the as yet unpainted parts.
PIC 4 The landing lamps, nicely blended into the wing leading edge.
PICS 5 to 8 General views of how the model look so far.
It's now in the final stages, although there is still a lot to do, and the job is getting more difficult with each addition, as the darned thing is tricky to handle due to its sheer size - it's very easy to break something. I've already dislodged the radar monitor, when removing the masking tape from the Observer's hatch!
I'll hopefully have some more pics over the weekend, and thanks once more for your interest and kind comments.
EDIT:- Oops! Hit wrong button, missed pics! Should be there now!
