Got back into the Hanger today and did a bit of work on the Brewster. Spent about an hour struggling with making a flexible hose for the cockpit, good way to get the model making juices going. Hope to post some pics tomorrow.

It's good to be back guy's and were up and running. I've had a good productive day in the hanger as well as the garden

Progress was made in the cockpit with a little detailing with etched parts and the adding of a scratch built screen heater hose. Having completed this it was time to close up but this had to be done one half at a time while bulkheads were also fitted.

Having done this the other half was added and from the top it's not a bad fit. But flip it over and 'YUK', one could drive a double-decker bus through the gaps (I was not so long ago in London).

Still, no worries, just a few strips of plastic some Zap-a-gap and all fixed. All I have to do now is let it all set hard overnight and then spend a couple of days filing and sanding.

An while I was doing so well, I added some hydraulics to the undercarriage. I can paint these up between scraping and sanding sessions.

Oh it's so good to be back!!!!!!!!

Nice work Vic! What did you use for the heater hose? It's a nice representation.

Glenn, it's a bit of very fine electronic cable the same as used for the hydraulic pipes with a specialist parachute cotton (memento from my RAF days) wrapped round and stuck down with CA. It was a bit fiddly as with such fine wire it would not stay rigid enough but with both ends clamped in a pair of suture forceps and these in turn locked on a clamp, things started to work better.

It seems I've been a bit distracted over the last few days as I made a post to my GB12 build which was meant for this one. i.e. the engine falling off and me needing to fix it. Put it down to plain simple dumbness.

Not without reason though as we have had a major distraction the last couple of days which luckily has turned out reasonably okay. My prospective son-in-law, Jason who is only 45 had a heart attack on Monday night, which was followed by a couple of others. Luckily Jason is a strong and fit person and I feel it's just this fact that pulled him through. It seems he had a piece of cholesterol plaque lodge in a narrowing artery and yesterday they performed an aneurysm on him and today he is back at home. So I think he is one very lucky young man.


So onto the build which I was able to work on today. Having fixed the engine, I set to with the spraying.

A nice shade of yellow applied in all the right places.

Once the paint was dry, it was masked and a light coat of light grey applied. This revealed a couple of rough spots that need attention. These have been filled and now await my getting into the file and clean up mood.
