My back has been out so I haven't done anything recently, but finally got back to work on this one tonight, and did some work on the engine cowls.

Pictures 1 2) One of the cowls before I started on it tonight. Not much detail. The fit of the front isn't great and the panel lines are very faint. Note the depiction of the exhaust at the red arrow.

Picture 3) I made up exhaust stacks from aluminum tube, thinned out the wall thickness and super-glued them to pieces to sprue to support then from inside the cowl.

Pictures 4 5) The engine cowl after filing and sanding the seams, re-scribing the panel lines, and attaching the new exhaust stacks through drilled out holes.

Now to finish the other one.

Well, after a long break I've started up on the 189 again. I installed the main and overhead control panels, and am getting close to closing up the fusalage..... or rather pod. I also did some surgery the plans called for removing chunks of the wing roots and replacing them with gun ports. I'll use pieces of tubing for the cannon barrel.
Question:
What color is the part circled in red on the plan sheet? Its looks to be either a ammunition feed belt or some kind of gun mount. Any help or references would be appreciated.

That's the fabric, tubular chute for the empty cases from the MG Glenn. They were either a canvas colour, or possibly a light brown. I'll see if I can find some pics, but they'll probably be from a different type of aircraft.

Haven't found any clear pics yet, but should have some somewhere - I think!
Meanwhile, I've scanned part of this cutaway drawing, which might help. The chute is numbered 36 on the drawing, and runs down to a collection box below, marked 34.
The chute was a canvas 'corrugated' tube, not unlike the PVC exhaust hoses you might find on a modern day clothes tumble drier.
