Two things Harrison

One try to take your pictures on something with a plane background. The parts are getting lost in the print on the paper. Of course I'm getting old and it could just be my eyes.

The next thing is the tires should be flat black. To the best of my knowledge the ground crews didn't Armor-All their tires.

Other then that its looking good and I look forward to the paint process.

The tires are flat black?

Thanks

Landing gear check. Can I attach the wings to the fuselage now?

Thanks Paul! I thank you for the information on the cockpit! It helped so much!

Your welcome, sorry hadnt responded back sooner, been really busy as of late at work. I really wanted to get more involved in this MTO build then I have. Hopfully in a couple of weeks I will as over time is suppose to run down.

No problem! What kind of job do you have?

I think I've been doing acceptable the whole way, now it's just the dam painting that could quite possibly f*ck me up.

Just take your time with the painting Harrison. Do one colour at a time, carefully and neatly, without overloading the brush (see the Brush painting Guide). Let this totally dry before going on to the next colour. This part is possibly the most important, as you can have a superbly built and detailed model spoiled by a bad paint finish.
Anyway, here's the P40 pics I mentioned in your PM. Note the gear legs are 'metallised' paint - a sort of light grey with metal powders included, so a straight light grey is acceptable in smaller scales. The Oleo I mentioned is the shiny bit near the bottom of each leg, between the stub axle and the main gear leg. Hope these help.

Thanks Terry! What type of P-40 is that? I went on with the wings, now it's looking like an airplane 8) .

I am basically done with construction, now. I just have tiny things, like the pilot tube, tail wheel, exhausts and canopy. So I guess I do the painting before I do these, correct?

Question

For masking, I'm going to wait till later this week, or weekend to do the painting, but masking, does anyone have an aerial view of this profile or any P-40B paint scheme for the top of the wings, camo pattern.

Far as I know, the aircraft is a P40B, but I'd need to check; it's airworthy, based at Duxford. I should have a top side profile for the cammo pattern, I'll post it later this week, when I get other stuff finished!

Your the man Terry! Thanks!

Here are the props. I did both sides of yellow but only did one side of the props with the black, need to wait for them to dry.

You have done a lot of work when I wasn't on line Harrison.Very nice. But there is a few incorrections made during working I have noticed

First of all, you still don't try to clean all parts out. For instance there are small overflows on the prop blade edges, especially at their tips. What is more it seems that there are cavities in plastic. The part haven't been prepered for painting properly.

Secondly, these tires consist of two halves. It is nothing usual but have you seen a such seams on the P-40 wheels in Terry's pic?. Logically these halves should have been put together firstly then these seams should be cleaned down with sandpaper and then the hubs attached. Now if you want to sand these seams you will have to damage the applied paint and after sanding , re-paint the area again. I think it is double work and wasting of time and paint.Am I right?

Thirdly, You have attached flaps to the wing and had some trouble with that. Why hadn't you checked their fit before attached? It might be the fault of these shots but I have gotten an impression that these were stuck out of the wing trailing edge.It is incorrect certainly because flaps didn't stick out in that way .

And finally I agree these pics would have looked better if you would use a sheet of white paper as the background.

It's coming along just great Harrison and it seems you have a great deal of help and support form all these fine modellers. Your all doing great Guys, it's inspiring to see.

I quit.

And something else, I had asked, one the previous should I go glue the wings, and no response so what am I suppose to do? (surely I'm not going to sit here for 3 days waiting.)

I haven't been modeling for 40 years or how ever long everyone else has. You guys have been modeling more years than I have been alive.

I entered the GB to have fun, and some help. I really don't care if you think my model is crap, I don't care, I haven't been modeling, it's my first one. What may be crap to you seems pretty good to me. So I quit. I'm done with modeling.

Thanks.
