Hartman #4 the HL-1 in 1/48th

This is number 4 in the series of local aviator Art Hartman's aircraft. Art set up to manufacture this biplane that was very similar to a Waco 9. He only produced three before the depression shut him down.

Pic 1 - Photo of the Airplane

Pic 2 - Wings come from a Stearman kit (Lindberg), fuselage comes from a SMER DH 82 Tigermoth. The fuselage will need spacers added laterally as the Hartman was a little wider airframe.

Pic 3 - Trimming the wingtips for the straight look.

Working on the HL-1 while the dirigible glue dries.

The Tiger moth fuselage has the basic shape I needed but it is quite a bit too thin at the front so spacers have to be added at all points. I use a divider to measure the width I need and then transfer it to the sheet styrene. Next up: adding firewall.
