Shocked....:(:pilotsalute:
Rest in Peace my friend!

We toast our hearty comrades who have fallen from the sky,and were gently caught by Gods own hands to be with him on high.

To dwell among the soaring clouds they have known so well before, from victory roll to tail chase at heavens very door.

And as we fly among them there, we're sure to hear their plea:Take care, my friend, watch your six, and do one more roll for me.

I just saw this post, how terribly sad. My most sincere condolences to his family

Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat ei .
Requiescat in pace.

Read this on facebook last night before retiring to bed. A very sad ending to my day. Though we never met, you were a true friend and a gentleman. RIP dear friend. :salute:

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, friendship leaves a memory no one can steal. Do not go quietly into the night my friend, I will not forget you.

Charles was always the penultimate gentleman for me, I hope he keeps that with him as he passes.

aw man.....this is terrible news.....:(

Condolences to Edna Mae and Family.....Charles was top guy and Gentleman....will be sorely missed.....

RIP Charles.....:salute:

I definitely think that we need a pinned 'In Memorian' of some sort, for those friends, family, of ours that's no longer with us, otherwise some of them will disappear in all the posts....
Most of them are under the section "News". You'll find Richard, Neil and Edgar Brooks and now Charles. But I'll try to take it up with the staff for a special section.

A sad passing, it brought a poem to mind by John Gillespie Magee Jr written during WW2

High Flight
:
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
– Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
