Spotted this little fella at a rest stop in Rhode island, I swear he was looking at me when i took the pic. He's got a cool camo scheme!

Naah, I cheated on the jelly fish shot. Those guys can be found pulsing their way around a tank at the Charleston Aquarium. Trick is be patient, make sure no one is around so there's no spurious reflections, and don't use a flash.

These are some butterflies I shot at a plantation up the road from Charleston.

I've got them in the ivy and the wood pile here, halfway between Richmond and Petersburg. That shot was taken in the gardens of the Biltmore mansion in Asheville (a day after leaving beautiful Charleston) during our annual summer progression. Also see them at the in-laws in SE Florida. Damn things are endemic. Used to keep them in terrariums when I was a kid, fed the mealy worms.

Friend of mine went to the Sillydel, said they kept one in their room, just let him wander around, kept the bug population under control, I guess.

Only the males have the blue tails . . . hope that's not something subliminal.

I always seem to get to the aquarium here in Dallas on "Everybody Come At the Same Time" Day. Even with a tripod, my shutter speeds are still too long to get anything but eerily purple blurs. Hmmm...maybe I'll try my macro lens, its got a good low f-stop! (BTW....carry a tripod. Even if you don't use it, 80% of the people who are there at the same time will look at you as a professional, and try to stay out of your way. As for the other 20%....a tripod makes a great tool to beat them until they move.

Some from a trip to the Aquarium back in January 09:

Brilliant shots RA, I hate snakes (says a man living in snake kingdom) and not to fond of croc's or their cousins, but you've caught them well here. Seahorses are more in my line, he's great

Awesome shots RA!! I'll add some of my crocodile shots
