I notice that there's quite a few former Imperial Japanese military uniforms in the crowd, too. If I remember right, in post war Germany photos, there were quite a few German uniforms seen in everyday scenes for a while afterwards as well.
I like the market shots a great deal. I must admit I do love looking around for a bargain - however Osaka market looks considerably more interesting than the one I frequent in Camden Town, London!

There's a very good "vibe" about those photographs, a feel of a new beginning and optimism. The "jeep shot" shows the curiosity of children will overcome any fear of the unfamiliar!
Grau, Japanese gardens are definitely beautiful and well thought out. There are times when loneliness and withdrawal are called for but rocks and sand are not high on my list, unless the rocks are mountains and the sand is a beach. I appreciate the thought and planning but...
