My 190 kit has a droptank like the one in the profile, its got a flat bit on it. What's the 109 kit got Dan?
 
I don't think it's a major problem with the drop tanks. There were basically thrre types, two of which looked very similar, and one of these was plywood.
The ones with the 'flat' bottom could be just 'flat', or with a 'groove' in the flat part which, as far as I know, was a baffle to aid fuel feed. All types were interchangeable, with the same mounts, fuel and pressure connections, and it's possible/probable that units would use all types, depending on supply etc.
 
A workmate was telling me they were made from compressed paper, true? Plus there was a 10dm reward if you found one and returned it to the authorities.
 
I think you're right M. They tried making them from compressed paper laminate, like the British-produced drop tanks for the USAAF, and also used a mixture of plywood and compressed paper. The reward sounds right, as the stencilling (when displayed) on the tanks warns that it's not a bomb, and to report the find to the nearest airfield, or police post, no doubt so that the tank could be recovered for further use.
 
Sh*t! I thought a '109 had crashed in your garden when the pic first opened Dan! Looking good mate, very nice primer etc finish, should turn out well. Especially with your all singing, all dancing airbrush!

I must invest in a decent airbrush, my cheapo model gave me a few scares when I was mottling White 5.
 
Can let you have an address for a good supplier, with some excellent 'brushes at VERY reasonable prices Keith. And they don't charge the Earth for carriage either!
