Good work H. Now, use a piece of fine wet n' dry or sandpaper, on your finger tip, and smooth out the inside of the wheel well, to clean up the marks from the file. Once painted, it should look fine. Lot of work goes into even a small model, I think you'll agree!!?

Aye Aye Terry! Wojtek sent me a PM before he left for the weekend telling me he'll speak to me about painting the wheel well when he get back next weekend. Does the sanding have to be done now? Or can I do it tomorrow, my dad is sleeping and if I wake him up, I'm not going to go to the hobby shop tomorrow !

I have checked what you did so far Harrison.Looking good Mate. Now follow Terry's instruction for sanding these bays.
Back to the flap bays..... In the pics it can be seen that there are gaps at roots of the upper halves of the wing.Put there some putty and then sanding.Also there is a hole ( it's a stamp trace) in the right flap bay.This has to be removed with a putty as well.In the left flap bay the same trace is not a hole so you have sand it down with sandpaper only.

Got 2 things of putty for a dollar. A squadron one and Testors Contour putty. For a dollar.

Then I got a hobby knife by Proedge because Testors is cheap. It broke and Keith is sending me a set but to hold me over it's a 3 dollar knife. Then I bought my self a 10 dollar Revell Stuka.

Guys, tips on application of putty would be appreciated!

Getting two different tubes of putty is good. You can try out both and see what you like best. You also may find that one is better then the other in tighter spots. Its trial and error. No wrongs.

When I first started I would just apply putty along the the seam like you see below. (Yes yes I know its a ship and not a plane but if it makes people feel better its a Converted troop carrier from WWII)

The problem with this is that there is now a lot of sanding to be done.

Now if you look at the picture below this is what I do. Picture if you will, The red line is the seam to be filled. Place tape (Green Lines) on both sides of the seam. The fill the space between the tape with putty (light blue line). After the putty starts to dry remove the tape and let it completely dry. Then sand. Depending , you might want to apply new tape before you start sanding to protect the details of the model.

I can't speak for everyone or how the testors putty spreads but for me when using the Squadron Green putty (the White is most likely the same) its thick and it doesn't spread very well so I find it gets everywhere but the seam. So I let it partly dry and then remove the big clumps and then some of the over flow. I then let it completely dry and start the major sanding.

If anyone has a better way I'm all ears. The filling and sanding the the parts of modeling I like the least. In between posts I am attaching the wings to my JU-52 and found that I need to do some more filling of the leading edges of the wings. I'm not thrilled about it

I use a toothpick to apply the putty into the gaps and seams, alot less messy and alot less to sand down...
