I dont see how I could clean out the holes that the new gear tips would need to fit into the bay.. They are full of glue and plastic with the broken tips inside...

Im gonna have to try Terrys description for the repair.... All I can do is try.... I dont have any small jewlers drill bits so Im gonna have to get creative somehow.... Im so fu*kin pissed about this, Im tempted to put it up and concentrate on one of the 1/48th scale 109's I got....

Dan If you are out and about tomorrow(off) I have a full set of bits.Just drop on by and we can fix it up in a jiff.I am 1/2 the way between you and the LHS.Cheers Kevin

Great stuff Kevin! I'm sure that between the two of you, the kite will be saved! Glad to hear you are close enough to help; I'd hate to see all Dan's hard work go down the tubes!

Dan, I believe I have a bunch of extra small drill bits and holder I could give you. If you get stuck and need them, I'll go through what I have and send them. I think I can get them past in a regular envelope.

Les... remember my Walrus MkI fiasco. Patience my friend. I'm not one to dole out patience reminders, but all is not lost. Look at the virtual digital friends that are stepping up to the challenge. Its all good.

It's happened to us all! It can be fixed. It'd be a shame to give up on that lovely build.

Lucky you didn't lose it like me, my ICM 1/48 Yak-7 got f**ked across the room into the fire.

Thanks for the words and offers guys...

Well, I did the best I could with what I had... I used the smallest bit I had, hollowed out the legs and sockets, inserted small pieces of an old airbrush needle, glued as instructed, and used a small bit of epoxy instead of plastic cement...

Reason is the the pin method sucked ass and Im not confident with the strength, so epoxy went on....

We'll see in the morning what the work shows... I got the angles as close as I could jusge, going by pics and my A-8 side by side comparison... Its close enough for me atleast...

I'll post pics later when my mood improves... Maybe in the mornin...

With the fantastic job that you've done so far on the Dora-9 Dan, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you nailed this one as well with the landing gear, we know, and you know that you can do it!

Well, it looks like we have a winner... It seems to be pretty solid and basically no mess at all to clean up.... Looks good, and the angles are definatly close.... Im pretty happy this mornin....

I also have the spinner squared away, with just the flat/matte coat left to aplly...

You mounted the left landing gear leg into the right mount and back didn't you?
Anyway it is still the great looking model.
