thanks CR thanks catch 22 here is a small post on the build.Good news and bad news taped up the anti-glare panel painted the anti-glare (sealed the metalizer beforehand)the tamiya tape ripped the sealer right off!i've spayed on some more sealer and that did alright but the sealer under the the olive drab has lifted anyway i'll keep going, and hopefully overcome the problem!

Looks tops mate. A tip for any future NMF work; the tape, even if de-tacked by rubbing through fingers, will invariably lift acrylic clear coats, and most metallic finishes, even if only slightly. Also, metallic finishes will react with 'solid' colours if the latter is painted on top. It's generally best to paint all 'solid' colours first, for example, anti-glare areas, D-Day stripes etc, then mask these and apply the NMF.

Never used it myself. I've thought about it but have been satisfied with just plain shades of various aluminums and silver. But a well done metallizer like yours does look damn nice I must admit.

here is another update on the build so far.cheers!

pic 1)canopy is masked and bombs and rockets are assembled.

pic 2)prop is painted in aluminium before spaying black

pic 3)mistake on the olive drab i have decided to leave this as trying to fix it may do more harm than good.

pic 4)decal of the checker nose is on.this went really well it is the most important decal on the aircraft and to bugger this up would blow the whole thing,so i'm very happy .:D

pic 5)another view.

cheers!

Bl**dy nice work mate! Looks like the rear anti-glare will be easy enough to touch-in by brush. Note that bombs and rockets were not normally fitted together, and the triple tubes were only used briefly, being, basically, three 2.5 inch 'Bazookas' strapped together! Far as I've learned, the 78th were equipped for bombs only, used around and post D-Day on support missions. The rest of the time, on escort duties, the pylons carried drop tanks.

Looks great, any tips on the cowling decal would be appreciated. I have one glaring at me as we speak and I'm not looking forward to it.

I did some research for my build, 78th did strafing runs on d-day, 250 pound bombs from what I've been able to ascertain. Academy doesn't provide 250's so I have to go with 500's...bastages!
