Me four! A bit messy, but it's OK, and it'll clean up with a rub over with a tissue dampened in thinners. Then, just wipe over with a soft cloth - bingo, shiny new again!

Cheers guys -hopefully get it covered in white later today ( may not get time cause I'm really pushing to get NZ5255 done by wednesday)

I'm gonna do what you said Terry ,get it abit cleaner -then see how much time etc I've got

EDIT: Opinions wanted please ,if I paint it all white with acrylic ,then undewing/lower fusalage with 'sea blue' enamel ,then upper fusalage/ top of wings acrylics

Will they mix and get angry? (I think possibly the turps in the enamel will attack the undercoat acrylic) What'da you guys think?

Dan, have you received any pictures? All -1Ds were painted overall Sea Blue, unless there was something different with the Kiwi ones.

Any photos of NZ5517 you mean? as far as I know none exist

Heres what I'm basing the colours on for both this build and NZ5255 (it actually being NZ5255)

I found it in a magazine -think it should be known as a -1A not -1D as stated in the pic

EDIT: note the under outer wings/lower fusalage are a different blue

Oh k, makes more sense now. I use both Acrylics and Enamels all the time, you do have to be careful though because enamel doesn't like to stick to acrylic so you need to give it time to cure. I'd paint the enamels first if you can.

Yep, take it easy and you should be OK. Let the acrylics dry for at least 12 hours, preferably longer, before hitting them with enamel. If you give the acrylics a clear coat first though, you'll be able to paint the enamel sooner, and it shouldn't affect the acrylic. Johnson's Klear/Future will be OK for this, either straight, or mixed as a matt coat as already discussed.

Ok thanks for the advice Terry and Cory! won't be doing much with this for a couple days

I got until thursday afternoon to get the other Corsair done and it aint playing ball!

Tamiya paint made my airbrush throw a hessy fit

Did it with the good old stuff (its the bottom one)

Looking good Daniel. I presume you mean the Tamiya messed up in the 'brush, so you used enamels?
BTW, I know you have some strange trees in NZ, but I didn't know you had the flora Corsairabunda tree!

 Terry! ,Thanks for the comments guys

I dunno what went wrong with the tamiya stuff -first I thinned some and then I just used it straight from the bottle and both times it either wouldn't work or would 'spit' .I gave up then .The only other tamiya colour I've used before was 'olive drab' on my B-26 and that went flawlessly -so I'm thinking maybe the temperature must of had something to do with it? was about 3-5 degress when I sprayed it last night .Wouldn't usually do it so cold just I needed to get it done also possibly the tip was the problem I think I may have been spraying initially with a 'narrow' tip and thus wouldn't do what I wanted ,Dunno about others but my brush didn't come with much instructions -just a shitty DVD .No instructions on the difference in tips either

Actually Terry before I resorted to enamels I used this acrylic stuff (pictured)- since it was acrylic I decided to give it a shot -thinned it quite heavily with water and it worked without a hitch! . This company 'Dulux' funnily enough although under a different name at the time use to make the paints for the RNZAF in WWII!
