Cheers Vic, and here are some shots from the room with a view...:D

First shot is to the east and swinging around to the north west, the fourth shot shows the grounds of Hiroshima Castle in the background and the circular building in the foreground is the Museum of art.

I have not been to Hiroshima since 1984.
It looks bigger than before.

Today I have found out these in your gift.
Thank you very much again for your kindest courtesy, Wayne and Lynn! :)

Once settled we set off for Hon Dori, this covered Shopping Mall/Arcade/street extends some 800 metres approximately east west, with shops of all types lining both sides.

Just around the corner at the eastern end of Hon Dori is the Hypocentre site with a small dedication plaque, 600m above this point the A-bomb exploded. Iv'e included a 1945 shot from the internet showing the Hypocentre location plus where Hon Dori is (Red Line)

Awesome research, Wayne.
You can be a good reporter :)

Looking back our 70 years, experience of the indiscriminate bombings may have urged us to build underground towns positively even after the war was over.
Tokyo is a fortress against attacks from the air.

Some nice stuff there Wayne, good research and well presented. Don't think I'll be taking Hil there, too many shops and all the clothing just the right size for her height.

Yeah true enough...stay clear mate..:D

What a fantastic vacation, Wayne!

I will admit to be a little jealous, as I have always wanted to visit Japan. So much history in the land.

Thanks for you (and Shinpachi) sharing photos and info of the excursion.

By the way...where was Godzilla?

Not anywhere I went, sorry to say...:D

Moving on further, new Day, Thursday and it was off to the Peace Park.

First pics are taken on the Motoyasu-bashi Bridge crossing to the peace park. (Red Circle)and red lines indicating direction.
First Pic looking back to the North at the Bomb Dome Building and then to the left along the parks river bank.
Pics 3 and 4 are of the Fuel Hall / Rest Room building (Yellow Arrow)taken from the net as my couple of pics didn't come out right for some reason.
This building in part also survived the Blast and was rebuilt, one person in the basement at the time of the detonation, survived the blast!

Quote"The old Fuel Hall and City Planning Office sits at one end of the Motoyasu-bashi Bridge that spans the Motoyasu-gawa River, Mr. Nomura Eizo survived the A-bomb in this building because he went down to the basement to retrieve some paperwork. When he came upstairs all he could see was a burning hell. He died in 1982 at the age of 84. The old Fuel Hall is now the Peace Memorial Park Rest House."

The last pic to the right of the bridge and Fuel Hall is the Childrens Peace Monument. more on this later.

Good research, Wayne. Much impressed.

When I was in Hiroshima, I was only eating oysters and drinking sake :)
