1/72 scale.


Based on information found in Air Force Colors Vol 3, Squadron Signal publishing.

A single B-17 E, #41-2616, was painted overall blue at the Hawaiian Air Depot as a test for over water patrols. The plane was assigned to the 11th BG, 7th AF. Unit members reported that the plane drew enemy fire during missions. The plane was lost over Shortland Harbour on 29 Sept 1942

Thanks, I still have a log way to go. Wurger and the rest of the master model makers have give me much needed instruction.

Thank you. The lack of a close up lens hides some problem areas. It is the first plane I have completed in over 30 years. I guess I will move up a level for MTO.

Thanks again guys. I was surprised how different the B-17 looked in the blue. It was a this bird or one that was OD over light blue. I try and will post the history on build thread. I have the pilot info on the other B-17 but the tought of seeing an all blue B-17 was to much to pass.
